Time required: 5.5h
This is probably the most attractive tour on Papuk connecting a line of attractive places, peeks with a view and wanderings through a forest and untouched nature. The way to Jankovac is easy, lasts about an hour and a half, but the way back is a bit longer and lasts about three hours, but it's worth it.
We start at the car-park – a widening on the road close to the diverging road to Lapjak and we slowly ascend on the main road along the Dubočanka valley. At the abandoned stone-pit Tisica, where it is still accessible by car, the road goes to the left. Over the swing-gate, the path leads to the building belonging to the Faculty of Forestry. About hundred meters before that it branches off to the left till a great clearing Jezerce where it leads to Nevoljaš, but we move on to the right. After a few minutes of walking the marked path separates from the road to the left. It leads through a forest straight to Jankovac. By descending towards Jankovac you can go all the way by road, coming around the lakes on the left it brings you straight to the hut. But our recommendation is to go off the road, there is a path leading towards the grave of the count Janković and water spring of Jankovac creek, and go around the lakes take a narrow path on the right. After a short rest in the hut or in front of it, make sure you visit the fall Skakavac using a nice round path descending towards the fall rights behind the hut.
To return look for the marks and sign posts in the vicinity of the didactical board across from the entrance in the hut. The path goes steeply through a forest, and after a steep rise an easier walk, what follows are ascents and falls all the way to the Jezerce hut which is above the former ski track beneath Nevoljaš. From there we move on towards the peek Nevoljaš which has a gazebo, and then further on in the same direction all the way until the didactical path. The path goes descents with a short ascent towards Lapjak, then again a steep fall on Tauber's rocks which gives a beautiful view over Velika and the valley. After that we come to the Old Town of Velika, then ascent towards pools. Back on the main road we turn left towards our starting point.
The path is well marked, it's not difficult to orientate. There are a lot of crossings on the road so your sightseeing might vary and could be adjoined with another route.

The Old Town of Velika
On the south slopes of Lapjak 452 m above the sea-level, north of Velika, there are remains of the medieval fortress called The Old Town of Velika. It was built in the 13. century and classified as the cultural heritage monument.
Noblemen „de Velika“ and „Befekije de Velike“ are mentioned in documents from the 14. century more than once, which can prove the existence of their fortress called Welyke and Welika. Later on it becomes the army shelter for the Ottomans. The fortress is relatively small, because it served mostly for protection. It is rectangular with a triangle supplement, and a multi-storey main tower in the north which was more accessible. The tower was preserved up to the second storey which still holds the remains of the stove. Originally there were four storeys out of which the last one, according to the positon of the joists in the wall, was wooden.
Today this medieval fortress is partly preserved, but still retains the admiration of the climbers and hikers.
Count's Didactical Path
It is in the most beautiful park forest of Jankovac and is one of the well-known touristic products of Slavonia.
The valley Jankovac got its name after count Josip noble Janković who had a hunter's hut built in the middle of the 19. century. He had two lakes dug, made a path all the way to the fall Skakavac and wished to be buried among rocks above this beautiful valley. That's how this path got its name in honour to him and was named a Didactical path. There are teaching boards by the path with explanations about certain natural and historical facts along the path. It gives the visitors two and a half hours of enjoyment in the magical world of the nature and heritage of this region. The Croatian Tourist Association recognized this beauty as well and it was awarded with „A Golden Flower“ in 2006. as the best original tour destination of the continental Croatia.
